Location: This research will be Kennet and Avon (K&A) waterway. This covers Bath, Bristol and Reading area.
Project summary: The waterways offer fantastic spaces for promoting and developing health and wellbeing through a wide range of activities for people of all ages, individuals, groups and communities. We would like to develop our offer around the health and wellbeing agenda, as we believe the canal network can play a part in delivering this agenda at a local level. In order to avoid duplication and develop the most appropriate offer, we wish to understand the current level of activity along the Kennet and Avon (K&A) waterway. The scope of the research will include identifying nodes / areas of health and wellbeing activity that are currently on or adjacent to the K&A waterway.

Objectives of the research will include: · Map all organisations on the K&A / stretch of the K&A that use the canals as a platform for public good · Identify organisations that are currently using the waterway to deliver activity around improving health and wellbeing of local people · Identify organisations that are interested in working with Canal & River Trust to delivering activity in the future · Identify any geographical or activity gaps in current provision that Canal & River Trust could work in partnership to plug. Outcomes of the research will include: · Name, address and key contact for each organisation · Current level of activity · What outcomes are they generating (in line with the OMF) · Advise us on the potential to increase or undertake new activity · Map of each waterway showing extent of current activity · Name, address and key contact for organisations that are interested in undertaking activity in the future
