Detailed summary: We are looking for a student who is interested in researching audience perceptions of Palestine and the Palestinian and Israeli conflict. The Bristol Palestine Film Festival seeks to promote and raise awareness of Palestinian film, art and culture to audiences across the South West. It features compelling and thought-provoking films, including documentaries, features, rare works, art pieces, by established and emerging artists. Each year, guest filmmakers and commentators from across the globe add contextual depth to the films. We also run ancillary cultural programming including workshops, concerts and socially engaged artistic works by Palestinians, or on themes related to Palestine. We are looking for a student who is interested in researching audience perceptions of Palestine and the Palestinian and Israeli conflict. The project would seek to refine and develop audience segmentation tools to look at potential and current audiences. An extension to the study would involve an exploration on the impact of film on audiences attending the festival. Such a paper in addition to exploring impacts and outcomes, may explore ethical questions that arise from Humanitarian film making and its exhibition. www.bristolpff.org.uk
