Category: Social
Location: Croydon, United Kingdom
Project summary: Social Value Evaluation Research Project

Project has two key aims:
a) Review and report on the effectiveness of Croydon’s approach to social value since the launch of its Commissioning Strategy and Social Value toolkit in 2012.
b) Review and report on social value tools and recommend an appropriate tool that will enable the Council to track, quantify and report impact (financial benefits and qualitative measures). The tool should have the ability to provide the Council with the ability to hold quantitative and qualitative information/data, to share information, best practice, case studies etc.
Detailed summary: Croydon is aware that while some areas of its business effectively monitor and evaluate social value delivery, this is not always the case. Furthermore, whilst the Council has considered a number of different methodologies for measuring the impact of its social value approach, it has not yet decided on one specific methodology due to a lack of consensus about the most appropriate method able to encompass the broad range of activities and social value offers.

Therefore, whilst the Council is proud of the work that has taken place over the past four years, and continues to receive national and international recognition, it is lacking a consistent approach to measuring and evaluating its impact. In other words, the Council is not able to articulate the extent of social value that has been ‘promised’ or delivered, nor is it fully able to measure or describe the impact this has had on Croydon and its communities.

We are looking for a student/partner to deliver the project and accompany research/analysis on our behalf.
