Dissertation: From the Financial Crisis to a Crisis of Care: do austerity measures in the UK address one crisis of our economic system whilst perpetuating another?
Dissertation category: Politics
Dissertation theme:
Short summary: Which risks do austerity measures pose to vulnerable sections of the population, especially women? Do austerity measures perpetuate a crisis of care?
Detailed summary: Marketed as a 'common-sense' strategy in response to the financial crisis, the impact of austerity measures is proving to be profoundly unequally distributed. The risk to financial institutions has now been displaced onto vulnerable sections of the population, particularly women. I analyse the effects of austerity measures using a Risk Trade-Off analysis.
